DSD Construction in the Community – Supporting Summer Camps for Local Children

At DSD Construction, we believe in building stronger communities. That’s why as part of our ongoing “DSD Construction in the Community” social impact programme, we are proud to have supported local schools, clubs and families throughout 2025’s six-week summer holidays.

Our Social Value Manager, Chris Lumsdon, has worked closely with teachers, youth leaders and volunteers to deliver fun, engaging and healthy activities for children in the area. From sports sessions to creative clubs, the programme has been designed to promote both physical and mental wellbeing, while also helping families during the long break.

Supporting local clubs and activities

Over the course of the summer, DSD Construction has lent a hand at a wide range of school and community activities. From football, badminton, swimming, gymnastics, maths club to drama classes, our team has been there to support leaders and provide knowledge and expertise where needed. By getting involved, we have helped ensure that these groups could continue running and give local children a safe, enjoyable place to learn and play.

A free sports day for all

We were especially proud to host a free sports day for children aged 6–11, aimed at supporting families who may not always have access to holiday clubs and activities. More than 60 children came along to take part in football matches, rounders, relay races and gymnastics sessions. The atmosphere was fantastic, with smiles all around as the children made friends, kept active and had fun in the summer sunshine.

Continuing our commitment

This initiative is just one part of our wider mission to make a positive difference in the communities in which we live and work. By providing activities that promote teamwork, fitness and confidence, we hope to give children lasting memories as well as valuable life skills.

We’re delighted with the success of this summer’s activities and we’re already planning to repeat them during future half-term breaks and school holidays.
